If you’re looking for a fun day in Orange County with friends and family, look no further than the Irvine Spectrum. No matter where you’re coming from in the OC, the Spectrum is easily accessible as it’s right off the 405, 5, and 133. Here’s what we recommend you do in your day at the Irvine Spectrum:
Play at Dave & Buster’s.
Dave & Buster’s is a great place for families to hang out, because there truly are games for kids (and adults) of all ages! You can pay to play as much as you want, and there are sometimes deals if you buy multiple Power Cards or buy a Power Card in conjunction with a meal. Adults can sip on some cocktails while the kids sip on chocolate milk, and a good time will be had by all!
See a Show at Irvine Improv.
The Irvine Improv has hosted some hilarious comedians from the likes of Dane Cook to Whitney Cummings. This is a great way to cap off the night, but be warned that not all of the comedy acts are family-appropriate. If you do choose to come here for date night, leave the kids at home and take an Uber – there’s a two-drink minimum!
Have a Great Dinner at the Yard House.
The Irvine Spectrum is home to all sorts of great restaurants, but we’re particular to The Yard House. Why? The truffle cheeseburger is absolutely incredible. The mini peach cobbler is also a great way to top off a terrific meal. Get here early – there’s usually a pretty long line on Friday and Saturday nights.
Shop at Barnes & Noble.
There’s nothing better than having a few interrupted hours to explore and peruse a bookstore at your leisure. Irvine Spectrum is home to a large Barnes & Noble, which is becoming more and more of a rarity these days. There’s also a Starbucks upstairs with free wi-fi, so if you need to sneak in to get some work done, no one will judge you.
See a Movie at Edwards Cinemas.
There’s a movie theater at the Irvine Spectrum, but it’s not just any movie theater…it’s a majestic experience with reclining seats and ample leg room, oh my! The popcorn and pretzel bites are absolutely delicious. Here’s a tip: buy your tickets online before you go so you can make sure the movie doesn’t sell out.
